Alice Mae (Wagner) Eberenz, 99, of Kerrville, went to her heavenly garden on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, to be with those she loved and longed to see again.

Alice was born in Industry on May 4, 1924, the daughter of the late Harry Hugo Wagner and Lillie (Luetge) Wagner. She enjoyed attending school in Winedale, where she won the spelling bee and played baseball.

She married her sweetheart and dance partner, Herbert Eberenz, on Sept. 25, 1943, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange. The young couple left La Grange in 1946 to manage their uncle Joseph Seiler’s farm and ranch in Alice.

She was an excellent seamstress and homemaker; there was always plenty of sweet baked goodies to be had. Being in her yard was her pass time, whether planting seeds, making floral arrangements, sewing, crocheting, or baking, her hands were always busy.

Upon retiring Alice and Herbert moved back to La Grange. “Yard of the Month” was a frequently awarded honor in both La Grange and Alice. After Herbert’s death, Alice moved to Kerrville to be near family.

She is survived by daughter, Patricia Gohmert (Skipper) of Kerrville; grandson, William Herbert Gohmert (Tammy) of Kerrville; two great grandchildren: Lauren Rebecca Gohmert of San Antonio, and William Robert Gohmert of Austin; four greatgreat grandsons: Chylar Adan Moore, Carsyn Elliott Moore, Caelan Isaiah Moore and Lucian Jay Canales of San Antonio; sister and brother-in-law, Ila Nell Wagner Kieke (Daniel) of Carmine.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert; sisters: Evelyn Erna Wagner Toll (Elton); Irma Leona Wagner Ahlhorn (Eugene); brother, Clarence William Wagner (Ruby); sisters-in-law: Hattie Havemann (Benny); Lydia Eberenz Fietsam (Joseph); brother-in-law, Werner Eberenz (Alice); niece, Joyce Janette Toll Domel (Raymond); nephews: David Havemann (Doris), Gregrey Fred Wagner, Glen Roy Toll and Roger Dale Toll.

A special “thank you” to the caring personnel of River Point Assisted Living/Memory Care and to Peterson Hospice, both in Kerrville.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral Services were held at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023. Burial followed at La Grange City Cemetery.
