Dunk Dale Clinton Dunk, 70, of Winchester, passed away on Nov. 26, 2023, in Bastrop.

Dale was born on Aug. 10, 1953, in La Grange to Belmont and Barbara Hart Dunk. He graduated from La Grange High School in 1971.

After high school, Dale followed in his dad’s footsteps and became a carpenter.

After moving to Houston in 1972 he worked for Flo Stavinoha, where he became a Master Cabinetmaker. Dale spent years building libraries and kitchens in million dollars homes. By the mid-90s, he moved back to Winchester to work for himself as a master carpenter, building and designing staircases, libraries, and kitchens.

Dale was an avid reader, hunter, Cowboys fan, and he liked the Astros. Until he retired in 2007, he was a longstanding member of the Winchester Volunteer Fire Department and participated in the construction of the Winchester Fire Station.

He loved to play dominos and spent time socializing with the “Riff Raff” table at the local saloon.

He will be missed and is survived by his great niece Karissa Dancoe of La Grange and nephew, Nicholas Puerta, currently of Waco. Also, his sister-in-law, Linda Dunk, of Winchester, as well as many cousins and great friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Bel Dunk, his brother David Dunk, and his niece Vanessa Dunk Puerta.

Dale wished for only a Celebration of Life which will be held hopefully in January. Announcement of the time and place will be made via Winchester News and Facebook.

Memorials may be given to the Winchester United Methodist Church building fund or to the charity of your choice.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Bastrop Providence Funeral Home in Bastrop.
