Dolores Davis Dooley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, was called home by her Heavenly Father on Jan. 30, 2026, in La Grange at the age of 93.

Dolores was born in Taylor on March 16, 1932, to Gaston Davis and Dorothy Ritchey Davis. She was baptized into the Christian faith at the Shiloh Baptist Church. She married Gabe Dooley on March 25, 1950, at the Shiloh Baptist Church. They were married for 53 years, until his death.

Dolores graduated from Thrall High School in May 1949. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education on Dec. 22, 1972, from Southwest Texas State University. Dolores continued her education and earned a Master of Science in Education from Texas A&M University. She taught at the La Grange Independent School District, teaching elementary for several years and then high school accounting and typing and Vocational Office Education. Her dedication and excellence earned her a Texas Excellence Award for Outstanding High School Teachers. She was a lifetime member of the Texas State Teachers Association. Before she taught at La Grange High School, she was an Administrative Assistant at Folgers Coffee Company in Houston and at General Motors in Lubbock.

Dolores was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of La Grange where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and played piano. She was an accomplished piano player and enjoyed entertaining with music. Everyone who knew Dolores knew she had a strong faith and loved God, her family and teaching.

She is survived by children Tony and wife, Cindy of Round Top, Jim Bob and wife, Karen of Thrall and Susan and husband, Chuck Logue of La Grange. Grandchildren are Todd Dooley and wife, Amy of Round Top, Blake Dooley and wife, Amber of Round Top, Jarrett Dooley and wife, Adair of Georgetown, Bland Dooley of Georgetown and Emma Dooley and husband, Ryan McDonnell of Taylor. Great grandchildren are Brody Dooley, Bree Dooley, Summer Dooley, Chayse Dooley, Blake Dooley and Austin Dooley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gabe Dooley, parents, Gaston and Dorothy Davis, brothers, Lee and Harvey Davis, sister, Carolyn Davis Sanders and daughterin- law, Karen Behnke Dooley.

A visitation was held at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations of La Grange on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, from 9 - 10 a.m. with the family present at this time to receive friends. The funeral service followed at 10 a.m. A graveside service was held immediately after the chapel service at the La Grange City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 1048 N. Jefferson St., La Grange, TX 78945.
