Richard Frederick Jesse Dixon, 92 of La Grange died on Nov. 21, 2024 He was born in Devonshire in the United Kingdom on May 8, 1932.

A service in his memory will be held at St. James’Episcopal Church, La Grange, on Dec. 7, 2024 beginning at 11 a.m.

Richard is survived by his son, Michael and his son’s wife Therese of the Woodlands, and grandchildren Emily and Andrew, and by his son Peter and his wife Maria, and grandson Jonas of Stockholm, Sweden. He is also survived by his only daughter, Jennifer Dixon of McKinney, and various nieces and nephews, and family in the U.K.

Richard Dixon’s wife, Ann, died in 1999.

Richard Dixon’s father and paternal grandfather were both Captains in the Royal Navy, and following an Admiralty presentation Richard was educated at Christ’s Hospital School in the U.K. from the age of nine. At 16 he sailed as an indentured apprentice with the British Merchant Navy (Merchant Marine), eventually qualifying as Master (Captain), prior to immigrating to Texas in 1967. He remained in the maritime industry for many years, including 24 years as a marine surveyor until retiring to Fayette County.

Richard was a member of the St. James’ Episcopal Church, a regular assistant at Second Chance Emporium, AMEN, La Grange Noon Lions Club, a Texas Real Estate Broker, and for nine years was Honorary Secretary of the U.S. Gulf Branch of The Nautical Institute.
