Dittrich
Lillie Grohmann Dittrich, age 95, of Schulenburg, passed away on Aug. 12, 2025. Born on Dec. 8, 1929, in Engle to Rudolph and Emma Klesel Grohmann. Lillie grew up in Engle before moving to Schulenburg, where she graduated from Schulenburg High School. On April 15, 1950, she married the love of her life, Elreed Dittrich, and together they built a life filled with love, faith, and family.
Early in her marriage, Lillie worked at Alber’s Hatchery, where she honed the unique skill of gender identification of poultry, a talent she would use later in life. A proud homemaker and exceptional seamstress, Lillie sewed for her family and others, creating everything from everyday clothing to intricate wedding attire. She crafted wedding dresses for three of her daughters, along with their bridesmaid dresses, earning a reputation as a gifted seamstress who could alter nearly anything. Lillie was also a remarkable cook, with her pecan pie being a family favorite at gatherings.
A devoted Catholic, Lillie was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg and a dedicated member of the Altar Society. Her faith guided her life, and her kind, compassionate nature touched everyone she met.
Lillie is survived by her daughters, Loretta Ulrich (Mark), Verlene Ulrich (Eugene), and Normagene Petras (Mike), all of La Grange. She leaves behind seven grandchildren: Ryan Bayer (Courtney), Chad Bayer (Tara), Clayton Bayer, Christopher Ulrich (Amanda), Bradley Ulrich (Susan), Kevin Ulrich (Cari), and Travis Ulrich (Robyn), as well as fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elreed Dittrich; her daughters, Beverly Bayer and Imogene; and her six siblings.
Lillie’s legacy of love, kindness, and creativity will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
