Funeral Services for Guadalupe “Lupe” Dela Rosa are scheduled for Oct. 9, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. A visitation will be held on Oct. 8, 2023 at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a Rosary at 6 p.m.

Lupe Dela Rosa, 74 of Plum, passed away on Sept. 29, 2023 in his home surrounded by family after a strong, hard fight against cancer.

He was born in El Pueblito, Mexico on June 3, 1949 to Lorenzo and Maria Luz (Marquez) Dela Rosa. He married Mary Acosta on June 7, 1970 in Presidio, Texas and they later had four children.

Lupe worked in the oilfield for 44 years. He was a hard worker and citizenship was very important to him. Although he was from Mexico, if asked he would tell people that he was from Corpus Christi. Lupe liked to have a good time and loved to pick on people and get them riled up, but he was always one to help out others. He loved to sing and dance and he also enjoyed farming, welding and his cows. Lupe loved and adored his grandchildren. He was a wonderful provider, husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed by those privileged enough to have known him.

Lupe is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Dela Rosa; children, Wally Dela Rosa of La Grange, Lorenzo Dela Rosa and wife Myra of La Grange, and Becky Ward and husband Anson of Huntsville; sister, Amalia Fabela and husband Ray of Jal, New Mexico; grandchildren, Samantha Hernandez (Jose), Brandii Cruz, Haydee Cruz, Halee Neiser (Justin), Alex Scallan (Christopher), Alyssa Dela Rosa, Abigail Dela Rosa, Anabella Dela Rosa, AJ Ward, and Ava Marie Ward; great grandchildren, Aldo and Jared Hernandez, Dani Mae Neiser, and Kase Christopher.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Belinda Cruz; brothers, Domingo Dela Rosa and “Kiko” Ocón; inlaws, Esperanza “Hope” and Salvador Acosta.
