Maydelle Levien Copeland passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2025 with her family by her side in Houston. She was 76 years old.

Maydelle was born June 19, 1949 in Brenham to Herschel and Ella Mae Levien. After graduating from Stephen F. Austin High School, she met the love of her life, Clarence. They became one on Aug. 31, 1968. They welcomed their first daughter, Stacy, two years later and their second daughter, Kristy later on. The four of them lived in Pasadena where Maydelle went on to receive her master’s degree in Elementary Education from The University of Houston. She took pride in being a Houston Cougar.

In 1990, Maydelle and her family of four moved to Round Top, where they built their forever home. After arriving, Maydelle became an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She taught special education for 25 years mostly at La Grange ISD before retiring. After retiring, she spent her free time volunteering wherever a hand was needed and enjoyed working in the kitchen at Festival Hill. When Maydelle wasn’t working, she loved spending her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren or sitting outside under her tree with her dogs. She had a love for Hallmark movies, worshipping with the Lord, and taking health tips from Dr. Oz. She looked forward to her weekly outings with the Porch Sisters. She will be remembered by her love for cookies and her daily reminders to drink lots of water.

Maydelle is preceded in death by daughter, Stacy Deanne Copeland and parents, Herschel and Ella Mae Levien.

Maydelle is survived by her husband of 57 years, Clarence ‘Bud’; daughter, Kristy and husband Brodrick; grandson, Tyler and wife Maggie; granddaughter, Mikaela and husband Trevion, greatgranddaughters Maliyah and Goldie, and great-grandsons, Blayze, Tatum, and Chosyn. She is also survived by her “baby brother” Larry and family.
