Robert “Bob” Burr Clements, 95, of Warda passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.

Bob was born in Abilene on April 2, 1926, the son of James H. Clements and Hazel B. (Jensen) Clements. He married his first wife, Norma Killingsworth, and the couple were blessed with their two children: James and Melinda.

He attended Abilene High School. While in high school at the age of 17, Bob was drafted in May of 1943 and served in the U.S. Navy. After being inducted in Abilene, Bob was sent to San Francisco were he went to radar school to become a radar man. After World War II ended, Bob helped in transporting troops back from the Philippine Islands to the United States. He served as Petty Officer 3rd Class until 1945.

After his return from the military, Bob completed his high school education, attended college and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene with a Bachelor’s in Psychology.

Bob managed Cando Oil and Gas of Houston. After his retirement, he moved to Warda in 1988 and settled into the quiet country community that he loved.

He was proud to join and be a member of the VFW Post #2012 in Abilene as a young man alongside his father.

Bob was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of La Grange where he met Ann Nesmith. The couple were blessed to have shared 22 years together.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Dyess, of Warda; son, James “Jim” Clements and wife, Debra, of Katy; step children: Kathi Haley of Rhode Island; Kelly Kline of Lexington; Kirby Kline and wife, Donna, of La Grange; grandchildren: Suzanne Straube; Thomas Straube; Cody Clements and wife, Hannah; and Kari Clements; step grandchildren: Katie and Ryan Baker of Rhode Island; Caleb and Claire Haley of Louisiana; great grandchildren: Thomas and Gracie Straube; Alexis Grace Clements; and Aidyn James Clements; step great grandchildren: Hannah and Daniel Baker and Jake Haley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Norma Clements; daughter, Melinda Kay Clements; and sister Wanda Clements Ottis.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations. Funeral services will follow beginning at 11 a.m. with burial at Winchester Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Texas Ramp Project, National Forest Association or to a charity of one’s choice.
