Henry “Sonny” Clarence Cernota Jr. 84, of La Grange went to be with the Lord on Oct. 5, 2020.

Henry was born in La Grange on Feb. 9, 1936, the only child of Henry and Annie Cernota. He married Marion Frances Vavra of Fayetteville on Nov. 12, 1956 and together they had five children. Henry was a devoted Catholic and had great faith in God. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father. Henry enjoyed attending church picnics, listening and dancing to polka music, fishing and backyard BBQ’s. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was a gentle and kind man, a forgiving man who loved and trusted God throughout his life. After he retired from Frito-Lay Inc. he enjoyed driving a school bus for La Grange ISD. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sons of Hermann and the SPJST.

He is survived by his four sons, Raymond Cernota of Atlanta, David Cernota of Houston, Thomas Cernota of Fulshear, Donald Cernota of Houston; daughter, Sandra Briones of La Grange; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Frances and his parents, Henry and Annie Cernota.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fayette Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in La Grange.
