Dana Lemay Carey, age 73, of Round Top, passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 2026, surrounded by family.

Dana was born in Houston on March 10, 1952, and was a lifelong Texan and Houstonian. She attended Lanier Middle School and graduated from Lamar High School in May of 1970. Dana later attended and graduated from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.

Dana was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her sharp wit, warm smile, generous hugs, and her ability to make others feel truly heard. She cherished lifelong friendships, treasured time with family, and found great joy in creating warm, welcoming homes wherever she lived.

She especially loved her farm in Round Top, where she enjoyed gardening, raising cattle, collecting antiques, traveling, and admiring the Texas bluebonnets she held dear.

Dana is survived by her husband, Edward Carey Sr.; her sons, Will Carey (Emily Carey) and Edward Carey Jr. (Jennifer Carey); and her beloved grandchildren, Ethan, Pierce, Knox, Charlotte, Thomas, and Kyle. She is also survived by extended family members and many dear friends.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center for their compassionate care.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, 2525 Washington Avenue, Houston, Texas. A memorial celebration of Dana’s life will take place from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. at the Center for Glenwood.
