Bruening
A funeral service for Robert Bruening, Jr. is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sept. 14, 2025 at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange (967 E. Colorado St.). A visitation with the family present will begin at 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service, also at the funeral home. Aprivate graveside service will be held on Sept. 15, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery.
Robert was born Nov. 13, 1949 to Aleitha Kaltwasser Bruening and Robert Bruening Sr. in La Grange. He lost his hard fought battle with cancer on Sept. 7, 2025.
He was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Shelby. He graduated from Round Top-Carmine High School in 1968. He was united in marriage April 4, 1970 to Mary Cecilia Grahmann at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.
Robert held several jobs before choosing his career as tractor mechanic. He spent 37 years with Washington County Tractor in Brenham before he retired in 2016. His children and grandchildren were the highlight of his life and he spent as much time as he could with them.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Industry and Shelby Volunteer Fire Department.
Robert is survived by his wife, Mary, daughter Trisha Bielamowicz and husband Steve of Navasota, son, Timothy Bruening and wife Maria of Saluda, South Carolina, grandchildren Chloe and Heyden Ducat, Kimber and Cade Buechmann, Paige and Coury Bielamowicz, Anne-Marie Bruening and a great grandchild due to arrive in December.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert andAleitha Bruening, brothers, Aurel “Buster” Bruening, Myron Bruening and Beryl Dale Bruening.
Honorary pallbearers are Cade Buechmann, Coury Bielamowicz, Kyle Brune and Mitchell Meier.
Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Robert’s Catholic Church in El Campo, TX or MD Anderson Cancer Center.
