Becak
Charles H. Becak, 93, of Weimar, passed away on Jan. 13, 2024 in Weimar.
He was born on Dec. 1, 1930 to Edmund Becak and Hattie (Susil) Becak in Wharton. On May 25, 1953 he married Georgia Mazoch.
Charles worked as an Operations Manager for Shell Oil Company for 34 years. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956, spending his time in Austria and Germany.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus in Palestine.
Charles enjoyed barbecuing, going to the coast, football and was an avid reader in his younger days. His favorite things were his dogs, Tipper and Dawn, and numerous cats. He also loved attending church picnics, going to Lake Charles to gamble, riding on his tractor at the farm and cheering on the Astros. He will be remembered most for his kindness and providing for his family. He was a true family man!
Charles is survived by his wife Georgia Becak of Weimar; daughter, Darlene Crawford and husband Gary of Weimar; son, David Becak and wife Sunney of Houston; sisters, Mildred Walla and Doris Hechler of Ellinger; sisters-inlaw, Jean Koym of Sealy, and Linda Mazoch of Weimar; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Edmund and Hattie Becak; and grandson, Curtis Crawford.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Holman.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024 at 10 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Holman. Fr. Jasper Liggio will be officiating.
Burial will take place in Holman Catholic Cemetery in Holman.
Pallbearers are Paul Hechler, Jeff Hechler, Dr. John Walla, Jr., Darrin Koym, Dean Koym and Danny Neiser.
