Gloria Ann Barta, age 81, of Flatonia, was born on June 14, 1943, to Henry and Sophie Jasek in La Grange. She passed away on Jan. 31, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by family after a lengthy illness.

She was one of eleven children. Gloria was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, granny, great-granny, and friend. Gloria spent most of her time with family and friends, spoiling her greatgrandchildren and doing the farm life with her husband. She was mostly proud to be a great-granny.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Sophie Jasek; two brothers, Jerame and Henry Jasek; seven sisters, Angeline Dowell, Levine Schmidt, Ivy Curry, Geraldine Blum, Celestine Widacki, Esther Toucket, and Bertha Ruether; and son-inlaw Ronald Gartman.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Edwin Barta; two daughters, Sheryl Gartman and Diane Rodela and husband Daniel; three grandsons, Steven McFarlin and wife Penny, Arron Gartman and wife Wendie; James McFarlin and girlfriend Maura; one granddaughter, Amber Modisette and husband Matthew, seven great grand-children Anthony, Hunter, Gavin, Gunner, Whitley, Grayson and Jackson, her sister, Irene Michalsky and sister-in-law, Floretta Riley, along with numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

The family received friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenburg. A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, in Oak Hill Cemetery in Flatonia.
