Born on Nov. 7, 1934, Allen was raised and educated in Ammannsville. It was in this small town where he acquired his love of dancing, and it was at a nearby dance in Fayette County where he met and later married his first love, Gladys. Together, he and Gladys moved across the country while Allen served in the U.S. Army. Upon honorable discharge, Allen and Gladys returned to Texas (Houston) where they raised their family, and Allen found work at Bowen Tools. He worked as a machinist, supervisor, and assistant shop superintendent at Bowen Tools until his retirement 40 years later. After Gladys’ untimely death, Allen married widow Aline Adamcik and relocated to Weimar.
Allen was always a country boy at heart, and spent every spare moment in Fayette and Colorado Counties working his cattle farms, tending his garden, telling stories, and hunting. In retirement, he and Aline enjoyed travelling throughout the world and attending local social events, especially polka dances. Allen was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish, Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion.
Allen is survived by his sons, Allen Brian Barta and wife, LeAnne, and Greg Barta and wife, Sheri; stepchildren, Sheryl Bartos and husband, Justin, and Dean Adamcik and wife, Ginny; seven grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John L. and Amalie (Cernoch) Barta; his brother, Harvey Barta and wife, Rosalie; his first wife, Gladys (Srubar); and his second wife, Aline (Wienken Adamcik).
