C.H. “Pete” Aikin, 84, of La Grange passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025.

Pete was born in Clarksville on Jan. 17, 1941, the son of Charley Andrew and Durell Bell (Dorer) Aikin. He married the love of his life, Oma Lee Eubanks on Oct. 9, 1970, in Lawton, Okla.

While attending Annona High School in Clarksville, Pete played 6-man football. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as Military Police in Japan, Korea and Hawaii. After fulfilling his military duties, he moved to Houston and worked in construction. In 1977, he moved his family of four to La Grange where he continued running Aikin Construction. Pete was very competitive and enjoyed racing and showing off his cooking skills at BBQ cookoffs. He was very proud of his garden every year. Pete loved animals, especially his cat, Bandit, who was his faithful companion.

He is survived his son, C.H. Aikin, Jr. and wife Karen of Round Rock; one sister, Bessie Marie Crocker of New Braunfels; one sister-in-law, Thelma Aikin of Van Buren, three grandchildren: Charles Aikin; Lacy Aikin Du Bose; Mikie Herbrich and wife, Erin; five great grandchildren: Mason Flynn and Bentley Du Bose; Riley Belle, Everly Faith, and Regan Tara Herbrich; a brother-in-law, Mike Curry of Schulenburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special family friends, Carlene Mc-Bride and husband, Donnie of Schulenburg; Lloyd Moreland of La Grange; Melinda Zajicek of Columbus; Nate Schielack, Baillie Powell and children, Kason and Kash of La Grange.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; wife; stepson; brothers, Marvin Alfred “Jake” Aikin and Roy Andrew Aikin; sisters, Mildred Louise Penick, Edna Jane Kimberling, and Wilma Charline Grimes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter, Hospice Brazos Valley or the charity of one’s choice.

A visitation was held on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations in La Grange. A graveside service followed at the Williams Creek Cemetery at 3 p.m.
