Ahlschlager
Gladys Rose (Weber) Ahlschlager, 92, of La Grange, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 18, 2022.
Gladys was born in La Grange on June 18, 1930, the daughter of the late Albina (Konvicka) and Paul Weber.
She married the love of her life, Franklin Royce Ahlschlager, Sr. in La Grange on June 14, 1953. They were blessed to have shared forty years of marriage.
Gladys was a devoted wife and mother who instilled the importance of faith and family to her children and beloved grandchildren.
She worked along side of her husband and children on the farm, most enjoying hauling the cotton crop to the gin, with joy of getting the first bale of the season in on various occasions. Gladys loved cooking and baking for both her family and her community. She was known for her famous angel food cake, which she lovingly would donate for community auctions. Her other hobbies included gardening, canning, pecan picking, and playing dominos and bingo. She was also a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
Gladys is survived by her seven children: Franklin Ahlschlager, Jr. of Victoria; Dennis Ahlschlager and wife, Brenda; Bonnie Schielack and husband, Ronnie; Debbie Busch and husband, Harvey; Dean Ahlschlager and wife, Katherine; Willie Ahlschlager and wife, Terri; and Douglas Ahlschlager, all of La Grange; one sister, Dorothy Drab of La Grange; two sisters-in-law: Gladys Weber and Dorothy Weber, both of La Grange; twelve grandchildren: Tanya Ellis and husband, James; Elliot Ahlschlager and wife, Melissa; Adam Ahlschlager and wife, Christina; Eric Ahlschlager and wife, Amanda; Kayla Ahlschlager; Brittni Keilers and husband, Arlin; Brianna Janda and husband, Ryan; Stuart Schielack and wife, Myste; Brandon Schielack and wife, Britney; Alex Schielack; Brett Busch; and Bonnie Busch and husband, John Pineda; twentyfour great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Paul and Albina Weber; husband: Franklin Ahlschlager, Sr.; two brothers: Alfred Weber and Henry Weber; two sisters: Martha Bordovsky and Mary Weber.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Koenig & Belvill Funeral Home and Cremations in La Grange. Family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of La Grange at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022. Burial will follow at the La Grange City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of La Grange or to the charity of one’s choice.
