Constitutional Carry: Details of the New Texas Law

Last month Texas became the 21st state in the Nation to allow citizens to carry a handgun without a license or training, known as “Constitutional Carry.” House Bill 1927 eliminated the requirement for Texas residents to obtain a license to carry (LTC) handguns if they’re not prohibited by state or federal law from possessing a gun. Governor Greg Abbott signed the bill back in June and it took effect on Sept.

The semi-annual Historic Walking Tour will take place on Saturday, October 16 at 9:30 a.m. in downtown La Grange. The starting point will be at the Historic Casino Hall located at 254 N. Jefferson St. This is a free event and open to the public but you must reserve a space. The tour brings locals and visitors to our Historic Downtown to learn about the History of La Grange. Zombies, Participants Sought for Fundraiser

This Halloween will look a lot different this year in Fayette County … zombies will be on the loose and the only thing that will be able to stop them is a spooky, scary game of laser tag fun. Join Fayette County Habitat for Humanity for their first Hab-o-ween zombie-themed laser tag event and screening of classic horror movies starting October 28 till October 31 from 5-9 p.m.

In 1972, things didn’t work out quite the way Gary Lincke had planned. After graduating from La Grange High School in 1970, he attended Blinn College for two years and was on track to transfer to the University of Houston’s Civil Engineering School. True, Gary had been helping his parents, Delton and Allyne Lincke, with their floor covering business as far back as he could remember. However, Gary wasn’t interested in spending his life doing that.

Investiture Ceremony for New Monsignors

Bishop Brendan Cahill (front, center) presided at an investiture ceremony for Monsignor Dan Kahlich (front, right) and Monsignor Tim Kosler (front, left) at noon Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg. St. Rose is the home parish of Monsignor Kahlich and is where Monsignor Kosler spent many years as pastor. Both Kosler and Kahlich recently retired.

Following ten years of growth and success helping individuals and families “grow wings,” Turtle Wing Foundation is excited to announce the hiring of its first Executive Director. On Monday, Sept. 13, Destiny Psencik officially joined the Turtle Wing staff. Psencik has always had a passion for serving communities and started her involvement in non-profit work while still in college.
