Multi-County Cooking Well with Diabetes Series

For those of you with Type 2 diabetes or just interested in healthy cooking ideas, our Multi-County Cooking Well with Diabetes series is right around the corner. Austin, Colorado, Fayette, and Washington Counties will be hosting this amazing four-week virtual program during the months of October and November (10/25, 11/1, 11/8, 11/15). By participating, you will learn how to prepare fantastic foods with flair. Each week you will hear from area health and nutrition professionals and learn how to make ordinary meals into extraordinary meals.

Fayette County Opry Returns Oct. 18 With a Gospel Show

Welcome back to the Fayette County Country Music Opry. After a long break because of the pandemic, The Music Club will host their monthly Opry on Monday, Oct. 18 with a special Gospel Show at the Knights of Columbus Hall in La Grange. The show starts at 7 p.m. and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $7.

Local 4-H Students Compete Across Texas

Fayette County 4-H members competed in the Waller County Livestock Judging Contest on Friday, Oct. 1. The Fayette County 4-H Junior team placed second overall. Junior Team members consisted of Kaisley Janecka, Addison Berckenhoff, Alexis Berckenhoff, Hayleigh Pizzitola, Brylee Brugger, Kylee Hoffmann, and Adalyn Carrales. Individually, Kaisley was fourth overall and Addison was 10th overall. The Fayette County 4-H Intermediate team placed ninth overall. Team members consisted of Logan Poncik, Rheagan Karisch, Karely Freytag, Avery Nelius and Wyatt Brunner. Kaelan Freytag judged as an individual in the Senior Division. Crockett Guenther recently competed in the Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo public speaking contest in Waco. His topic was titled “Rumination” and he competed in the Junior Animal Science Division. He placed fifth overall. Congratulations to Crockett on a very successful competition.

Catholic Daughters Day Proclaimed

Fayette County Judge Joe Weber signed a proclamation last Thursday designating Sunday, Oct. 17 as Catholic Daughters of the Americas Day in Fayette County. Jenifer And David Boening Trailblazer Award Winners

Jenifer and David Boening are the recipients of the 2021 Colorado Valley Independent Cattlemen’s Association (CVICA) Trailblazer Award. They have helped setup the KC Hall for the CVICA Banquet & Trade Show for several years. In addition, they contributed to the success of our show by donating items, helping with our auction and providing help wherever needed.

Oct. 8-15, 1971 Robert Hendrick, 48, of Houston was the pilot and lone occupant of a light plane that crashed west of La Grange just north of Guenther Field Sunday afternoon.
