LG Garden Club The La Grange Garden Club will meet at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. Pearl St.

The Texas Department of Transportation cited supply chain issues as the reason for a work stoppage on the Business 71 bridge project in La Grange. Work on the bridge came to a stop several weeks ago.

Beautiful weather smiled on Flatonia’s marquee festival, Czhilispiel, this weekend. This was the 49th version of the event that started nearly a half century ago as a chili cook-off fundraiser to help get a doctor for the town. It’s now grown to also include music, a carnival, and Sunday’s grand parade (pictured here). Fayette County Commissioners Court brokered a deal to cleanup some of the property on Country Club Drive damaged in the 2017 Hurricane Harvey Flood. Under the plan finalized at a meeting last Thursday, the Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club will mow the overgrown lots under authority from the Monument Hill Homeowners Association.

Bring the whole family to the Fayette County Courthouse Square for an evening of fun on Thursday, October 28 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. for Trick or Treat on the Square organized by La Grange Main Street. Travel counterclockwise around the Square to collect candy from participating businesses.

With two months yet to go in 2021, La Grange is headed for a record-breaking year in sales tax revenue. For October, State Comptroller Glenn Hegar sent the city $184,619 as its share of sales taxes collected in La Grange.

Bobbe Shapiro Nolan opens her exhibition, “Flyover Season,” at Arts for Rural Texas on Saturday, October 23rd at 5 p.m. Nolan’s fiber art pieces are a unique approach to the more traditional fiber arts of quilting, embroidering, weaving and others. Here she incorporates unexpected items that flow, move through and often erupt from her soft fibers, telling a story of time and transition. Her works have been recognized nationally and been included in such notable exhibitions as the “Form Not Function” show and exhibition at the Carnegie Center for Art and History in New Albany, Indiana.
