Parkinson’s Group Due to circumstances beyond control, the advertised topic about food will not be provided at this week’s Fayette County Area Parkinson’s Support Group. In its place, you will hear about legal documents, (POA’s, medical directives) - some of those things we don’t like to hear about but which we need to be informed of for our own benefit.

County Judge Joe Weber wants to clean up Fayette County. “We have a tremendous amount of trash in this county,” Weber said.

Warda’s Faith Lutheran High School senior, Benjamin Meyer of Lexington, was recently named a Finalist in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. Benjamin will be attending the University of Southern Florida in Tampa on a full-ride scholarship. He will be studying Biomedical Sciences with an emphasis in pre-med. Benjamin is shown with FLHS administrator, Nikki Kueck, after he received his recognition.

Debbie Jacob of Carmine was surprised by her daughter Jami Koehl with a live video chat with hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Heger Bush that was broadcast on NBCs Today show Friday March 4. The segment was part of a weekly feature called Best Fan Friend Friday, in which a loyal viewer is nominated for the promotion and surprised on air. Hoda and Jenna had a fun chat with the mother-daughter, congratulated Debbie on her upcoming 65th birthday (which was the following Monday) and then gifted both Debbie and Jami with $500 gift cards to Crate and Barrel. The Texas Women’s League hosted our 19th annual Spring Gala on Saturday, March 5, 2022 to raise money for local charities in our community. Every dollar raised is donated directly to local 501c3 organizations that have been in operation for one or more years. This year, 29 charities in Fayette County applied for funding.

Although I promised Charlie Ripper I’d never call him a hero, it’s how I will remember him. Emil and I met Charlie Ripper following the Flag Day Ceremony at the Fayette County Courthouse lawn in 2008.
