The Texan Store Opens in Schulenburg

The massive new Texan convenience store in Schulenburg opened Thursday evening, June 30. Located at 25. N. Kessler (the southwest corner of US 77 and Interstate 10), the store occupies the property of the former Frank’s Restaurant. Besides fuel, the Texan offers made-to-order food, lunch and dinner specials and plenty of clean restrooms. La Grange School Board Hears Security Update

The Uvalde school massacre has prompted schools around the state to take a close look at security. La Grange I.S.D. Director of Operations Sharon Muzny updated the school board Monday night on several school safety improvements that the district recently completed.

History Uncovered at Old Supermarket

The old Galipp’s Supermarket on North Main Street in downtown Schulenburg attracted quite a bit of attention recently. The owners, Melissa Lewis Janik and her three children, hired a contractor to tear off the awning that shaded the sidewalk in front of the vacant building.

Slaton Receives Citizenship Award

Myrannda Slaton received the St. Rose of Lima Citizenship Award during 8th grade graduation ceremonies for St. Rose School. This award is given to an 8th grade student who exhibits service above self and character in the likeness and image of St. Rose.

4-H Members Participate in Texas 4-H Shooting Sports

Fayette County 4-H members participated in the Texas 4-H shooting sports extravaganza. Tyler Maxwell and Ethyn Wilson participated in the Texas 4-H Shooting Sports Extravaganza at the Texas 4-H Center in Brownwood. They both received medals.
