La Grange YoungLife Holds First Fun Shoot

Twenty nine shooters and a team of volunteers enjoyed beautiful spring weather for the first annual La Grange YoungLife Fun Shoot at the Fayette County Gun Club. Each shooter loaded 100 shells to compete at three stations - five-stand, skeet, and trap.
Bubba Hoke won top individual shooter.

Holman Valley Steakhouse Raises Over $25,000 for Turtle Wing Foundation

Saturday, March 25, at Holman Valley Steakhouse was an unforgettable day and night for Turtle Wing Foundation and the community. “When Wendee (owner of Holman Valley Steakhouse) approached us with the idea that herself, her staff, Curtis Grimes and his band wanted to host a Benefit Concert and donate proceeds to Turtle Wing, we did not expect the lengths they would go to in order to raise not only funds, but awareness of the work the foundation is doing,” Executive Director Destiny Psencik said.

Round Top Festival Institute Receives Support From H-E-B Community Investment Program

The Round Top Festival Institute Library Benefit Concert was supported this year through a generous donation from H-E-B. The H-E-B Community Investment Program contributes to nonprofit organizations that maintain an IRS 501(c)(3) designation and that operate within the immediate H-E-B marketing area. Helping communities for more than 100 years, HE- B has continued their valued support for the arts and humanities by contributing to the Festival Institute’s Bybee Library Annual Valentine’s Benefit and Adopt-A-Book program.

Seven LHS Students Qualify for State UIL Academic Meet

The La Grange High School UIL academic team competed at the Region Academic Meet at Stephen F Austin State University on Saturday, April 22. Twenty-four LHS students competed in the following events: accounting, computer science, copy editing, current issues & events, feature writing, headline writing, literary criticism, news writing, ready writing, social studies, and extemporaneous informative & persuasive speaking. Seven students qualified for the State Academic Meet at The University of Texas at Austin on Wed-Thurs, May 17-18. The City of La Grange Recreation Department will begin registration for the 2023 Summer Day Camp on Wednesday, May 3, 4-6 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 East Pearl. To register parents must have completed forms, a $25 registration fee and pay for the participant(s) first and last week of camp. Youth must be entering kindergarten up to entering sixth grade for the 2023-2024 school year. Weekly fees are $100/1st camper; $90/2nd camper, and hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Spaces are limited and will be on a first-come-first-serve basis at sign-up. Registration packets will be available on Monday, May 1 for parents to pick-up, complete and return at time of sign-up. For additional information, contact the Recreation Department at (979) 9685600.
