Shelter Update

As of Jan. 12, total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 42: 18 dogs and 24 cats in need. As of Jan. 12, the shelter has 76 animals in care: 40 dogs/36 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

Fayette Fire Calls

The Fayette County Firefighter’s Association reports the following calls for the week of Jan. 7-13: Medical - 8 Gas Leak/Odor - 3 Accident - 1 Vehicle Fire - 1 Smoke Report - 1 Tree Fire - 1.

Garden Club Holds Christmas Party

La Grange Garden Club held their annual Christmas party in the Community Room at Randolph recreation Center that had been beautifully decorated for the occasion. The lovely lunch was catered by Reba’s and followed by an elaborate array of deserts prepared by members.

An Icy Start to the New Year

The coldest extended period of weather Fayette County has seen in two years wrapped this area in its icy grip for four days this week. Accordingly, Fayette County folks hunkered down with school, city and county departments closing as well as many businesses, but freezing precipitation was kept to a minimum.
Kim Macik-Jobb sent us this photo of the ice at her home in La Grange. La Grange received just enough freezing rain overnight Sunday to recognize the New Year ‘24 in her yard Monday.
