Czech President To Visit La Grange

President Petr Pavel and First Lady Eva Pavlová of the Czech Republic (Czechia) will make a public appearance in La Grange on their historic visit to Texas. The President and First Lady will visit the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center on Saturday, July 13.

Special 4th of July Events This Week at Monument Hill

Join Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites this 4th of July and celebrate our country’s patriotic roots with a series of historical activities on the Bluff. On Friday, July 5, and Saturday, July 6, the sites will host a celebration of Independence Day, 19th-century German-Texan style, featuring living history, games and crafts, and special guided tours. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnics to continue the festivities of their holiday week.
On Saturday, the historic sites will bring out its hand-cranked ice cream maker for old-fashioned frozen treats.

Folks Pack the Courthouse For Wind Energy Meeting

About 140 citizens showed up to the Fayette County Commissioners Court meeting last Thursday, June 27, to hear public comments about the proposed Mustang Wind project. No one spoke in favor of the wind farm that Apex Clean Energy wants to build north of Schulenburg.

City of La Grange offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Waste Management will not have a holiday and will run their normal garbage schedule.

Patriotic Concert At Festival Hill Celebrates the 4th of July

Round Top Festival Institute will be celebrating the Fourth of July with the annual Patriotic Concert on Sunday, June 30 at 3 p.m. The concert will begin with a rousing rendition of Francis Scott Key’s “The Star-Spangled Banner.” More American music is on the repertoire including “Yellow Rose of Texas,” John Williams’ “Finale from Star Wars” and the “Armed Forces Salute.” Blue Bell Creameries will be serving an ice cream treat to concert-goers after the performance.
