Ted Stanzel Honored as St. Rose of Lima Catholic School Distinguished Alumni

A Celebration of Catholic Education was hosted by the Diocese of Victoria at their first Class Education Awards on Monday, Oct. 14, at Club Westerner Victoria. The 2024 Distinguished Alumni honoree for St. Rose of Lima Catholic School is Mr. Theodore (Ted) Stanzel. He has done great things for our community and Catholic Education.

Pin Oak Cemetery Cleanup Held

M The historic Pin Oak Cemetry recently held their semiannual clean up with 13 people coming out to help preserve the past for the future. After all the mowing, edging, and general cleaning they held their business meeting and elected new officers.

Winchester 4-H Selling Poinsettias

W Once again it is time to order poinsettias for the Christmas season. The Winchester 4-H members are selling the traditional Christmas favorite for $12 each and they come in Red, White, or Pink.
Winchester Womens Luncheon held Oct. 23 at Murphy’s Steakhouse was hosted by Bobbie Dugie. The next luncheon will be Nov. 14 at 11 a.m.

Power Plant Coal Purchase Agreement Signed

Oct. 25-29, 1974 A contract valued at nearly $1 billion with Decker Coal Company of Omaha, Neb., to supply fuel for the joint Austin-Lower Colorado River Authority coal-fired power plant near Fayetteville was approved.

Fayette County Winter Feral Hog Control Contest Begins Nov. 2

The county-wide feral hog contest is being held to give landowners, producers, and sportsmen an opportunity to control feral hogs in Fayette County. The feral hog population causes economic losses to Fayette County Agriculture producers through crop destruction, pasture and livestock losses, and environmental damage.
