County Mulls Raises Amidst New Budget

Fayette County Commissioners held an hour-long workshop to hash over next year’s budget. According to the most recent projections from County Auditor City Havelka, the County will generate $23.283 million in revenue next year.

Local Teen Elected as a State FFA Vice President

The Texas FFA Association has officially announced the election of its new state officers for the 2024-2025 school year, including recent Fayetteville graduate Cash Smith. These twelve students, who recently graduated high school in May, will represent Texas FFA for the coming school year.

The Simmons, Lemons, and Adams Annual Family Reunion will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 10 am – 7 pm at Blase’s Hall (361/7982978) in Hallettsville, Texas. Blase’s is located nine miles east of Shiner and approximate 3 1/2 miles west of Hallettsville. Any descendants of the Simmons, Lemons or Adams that reside in Lavaca, Victoria, Harris, Travis, Bexar, Fayette, Dallas, Wharton, Caldwell, and any other surrounding Texas counties are encouraged to attend. Please bring desserts, vegetables, raffle gifts, Yourself, and others. Scholarship winners are announced during this time. The theme for 2024 is “God’s Grace is Sufficient!” - 2 Corinthians12: 9.” The contest is “Returning to the 1960’s or 1970’s.” There are four age groups and cash prizes awarded in each age group. Fayette Water Supply Notice of Lead Service Line Inventory

Fayette Water Supply Corporation (FWSC) has contracted Core & Main to perform the Lead Service Line Inventory as required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The Lead Service Line Inventory is an inventory of every service line in FWSC’s distribution system, including both the utility owned and customer owned service lines and active and inactive meter taps. Each must be categorized as either lead, non-lead, galvanized requiring replacement, or lead status unknown.

Just about everywhere you look around La Grange lately you’ll find heavy equipment, detours, warning signs, concrete trucks and construction workers. Contractors with the Texas Department of Transportation have been busy working on the US 77 widening project north of La Grange. Eventually, the highway will become four lanes from La Grange to the Lee County Line.
