FEC Announces Pole Inspection Project

Fayette Electric Cooperative, Inc. has partnered with EXO to conduct an inspection and treatment project on wooden electrical poles within its service territory. The project is set to begin on Jan. 6, 2025, in the Weimar area, including Holman, Dubina, New Bielau, Osage, and Oakland.
EXO’s team will include five to six crews traveling in gray Ford F-150 pickups marked with the EXO and FEC logos, like the one pictured above.

Fayette County Spring Feral Hog Control Begins Jan. 7

The county-wide feral hog contest is being held to give landowners, producers, and sportsmen an opportunity to control feral hogs in Fayette Co. The feral hog population causes economic losses to Fayette County Agriculture producers through crop destruction, pasture and livestock losses, and environmental damage.

Fayette County Spring Coyote Control Contest Announced

The Fayette County Spring Coyote Control Program begins on Jan. 7, 2025 and ends April 30, 2025. The contest is being held to give landowners, producers, and sportsmen an opportunity to assist in the control of coyotes in Fayette County. Coyotes cause predation on livestock and result in economic losses to agricultural producers in the county.

LHS Band Heads Into New Year on a High Note

The La Grange ISD Bands recently wrapped up its winter season with their annual winter concerts, and the Association of Texas Small School Bands All-Region Band Auditions. This year the program had record numbers of All-Region Band members on both campuses. La Grange MS had 31 students make a Region Band, with 1 Alternate. The High School had 32 students make a Region Band, with 3 alternates, for a total of 63 Region Band members program wide. Additionally, 13 high school musicians advanced to the ATSSB Area Audition, where they will compete for a seat in the ATSSB 4AAll-State Band.

Project Patriot Chairperson Worked With DAR Chapter in Giving to USO

The Project Patriot and Service to Veterans Chairperson, Jo Ann Vasina, worked diligently for six months for her Smith-McMillan Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution Project: Donations to USO Houston. We were invited to give more than thanks to our military by joining forces with patriotic Americans and giving to the USO to strengthen the well-being of the people serving in the America’s military and their families and given these three options: 1. Write a check to USO Houston. Choose the amount: $35 / $50 / $100 /$250 / $500 / $1,000 /$1,500.

VFW Post No. 5254, Auxiliary Holds Christmas Party, Presentations Made

The Fayette Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange held their annual Christmas party at the Post Home on Tuesday, Dec. 17 beginning with social hour and fellowship time at 5 p.m. The Auxiliary held a fun bucket raffle fundraiser for youth scholarships and a guessing game to win prizes.
