Fayette County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation designating the month of April as Autism Acceptance Month in Fayette County. On hand for the signing was Destiny Siptak, executive director of the Turtle Wing Foundation, whose mission is to help children with learning challenges in rural areas acchieve their full potential.

The Fayette County Commissioners Court sent a subdivision application back to the drawing board at their meeting last Thursday. The application from Schulenburg developer Chip Bubela and Brudders LLC called for five residential lots ranging from two-plus to three-plus acres on a 13-acre tract off FM 2672 near Schulenburg.

April 1, 1975 Fayette County Sheriff T.J. Flournoy personally pledged to pay $100 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons who were pulling all the burglaries in La Grange and around the county.

The Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau held the potluck dinner and quarterly meeting on Tuesday, March 18 at the American Legion Hall in Flatonia. President Danny Vyvjala on the right presented a gift to David Urban (left), David Urban Booking and Tax Services, was the guest speaker. Urban’s presentation at the meeting was very informative. Urban stated that for new clients coming to them would need the last two years tax returns. He enlightened the group on some new tax law changes, such as increase in the standard deduction, selling of assets and that one has to recapture the depreciation of that asset being used in its lifetime. Urban went over the Schedule F-for Farmers and Ranchers and spoke about the different expenses that can be written off. The next meeting of the Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau will be held on June 17.
