The deadline to receive an application to vote by mail for the July 14 Democratic Primary Runoff Election is Thursday, July 2, 2020. The application for a ballot by mail must be physically received in the Fayette County Election’s Office by close of business on the deadline date. Voters can fax or email their application to the Fayette County Elections Office on or before the deadline date, but the original application must be mailed to the office and received within four days of the date it was faxed or emailed in order for it to be considered a valid application.

The 15th Annual Backyard Bull Bash is being postponed.

Haley Olsovsky of Schulenburg was recently initiated into the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Olsovsky was initiated at Texas A&M University.

Karen Jacobs has been putting together a community wide yard sale. She is planning it for Friday and Saturday June 5-6 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. each day. The event is open to all who want to come and setup and sell all the things they have to peddle after cleaning out while at home so long. This will be a good chance to eliminate some of the excess that is just sitting at your house.

The Eichler Reunion, which was scheduled for June 7 at the La Bahia Hall has been cancelled.

RT-C Elementary students have worked hard to continue learning during this trying time and the school is recognizing their 6th grade graduates to pre-k finishers. Those students are pictured here.

The Fayette County Appraisal District sent out property tax appraisals on May 8.

Flatonia ISD will soon begin replacing the natural grass on its football field with artificial turf. Dr. Andy Reddock, the school superintendent, said the district will open bids for the project next week. He estimated the cost at $750,000 to $850,000.
