The Fayette County Republican Women hosted a talk by State Rep. Ben Leman at the Courthouse in La Grange on Monday, Jan.

Flatonia Fire and Rescue responded again on Tuesday to the fire scene on Slo John Road near FM 609. The initial fire that burned 33 acres took place on Friday, Jan 15. Flatonia Fire Chief John Burleson said his department received another call Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 26, reporting more smoke in the area. Firefighters responded and discovered a tree smouldering, pictured left, which they cut down and put out. The Jan. 15 fire destroyed two mobile homes, several barns and out buildings, two tractors and up to 30 vehicles, including two restored classic cars. The Colorado County Citizen • Joseph Ruiz, 29 of Eagle Lake, was struck and killed by a train on Monday in Eagle Lake. The City of Eagle Lake Police Department was dispatched to the scene of an Amtrak Passenger train and pedestrian accident at approximately 9 p.m.
