On Wednesday, Nov. 19, a group of Middle School students got a taste of what it’s like to be a teacher. The LMS Student Council “Leader in Me” Committee built a lesson based on Habit 3: Put First Things First. This comes from the Leader in Me program by Franklin Covey.

Faith Lutheran High Christmas Concert Dec. 9

Faith Lutheran High School will present a Christmas Concert “Faith at Christmas” on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The program will consist of choir pieces, handbell pieces, hymns, scripture readings and more. Refreshments will be served following the program. Everyone is invited to attend. The event will also be streamed on Facebook.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to Propose Expanding Antlerless Season

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is considering the expansion of the current four-day antlerless season (“doe days”) in 21 counties located in the Post Oak Savannah and South-Central Texas area to a 16-day antlerless season. If adopted, these expanded season dates would take effect in the 202627 season.

Another candidate says he plans to enter the County Judge race. William Bernsen of Plum told the Record last Friday that he intends to file as a Republican in the County Judge race.

On Thursday, Nov. 27 Crosspoint Church is hosting the Annual Community Thanksgiving meal. Meals will be prepared for people within the community, including meals for First Responders and staff at local nursing homes. These meals are free to anyone needing a hot meal on Thanksgiving Day. For the last few years, the Community Thanksgiving Meal has provided 500 meals to local residents.

LCRA, City, DAR Join Forces For Plaque Honoring Local Revolutionary War Soldier

The Smith-McMillan Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution soon will purchase and install a bronze plaque honoring John Sorrell, a Fayette County resident who served in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, thanks to a $5,414 grant from the Lower Colorado RiverAuthority and City of La Grange.
