Second Chance Emporium recently donated $20,000 to the Fayette County Habitat for Humanity. Monies donated will be used for the start up costs for ten senior cottages. These cottages will be available for rent to low to medium income seniors. A fellowship center and a senior support office will also be included in this project. Seven months into 2021, sales tax revenue is up in all six Fayette County towns that levy the local tax – five of them by double digits. After receiving its July check from State Comptroller Glenn Hegar, Round Top’s total for the year is up more than 60% from the same period last year.

Colorado River Cooperative and its member districts offer comprehensive special education services to eligible students ages three through 21 years and to children from birth through age 21 years who have a hearing or visual impairment. Children from birth to age three with other disabilities will be referred to appropriate agencies for services. All referrals are considered confidential, and services are provided at no cost. The parent, legal guardian, or surrogate parent retains the right to refuse services and are provided other procedural safeguards under federal and state law.

The La Grange Police Department is continuing its public safety initiatives with a Vehicle Theft Prevention campaign in July. During the month, the La Grange Police Department is highlighting the potential for motor vehicle theft, preventive measures vehicle owners should take, the importance of addressing the vehicle theft problem, and its significant economic impact.

In an inclusion classroom, general education teachers and special education teachers work together to meet the needs of students. This type of classroom gives special education students the support they need and allows them to stay in the least restrictive environment. All students can benefit from the additional resources and supportive techniques used in an inclusion classroom.

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of June. Deputy Ben Wilson responded to a residence off of US Highway 77 near La Grange for a vehicle that struck a residence.

Greg Hunger, president, called the regular monthly meeting of the Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation to order at 7:06 p.m. on Monday, July 12 at the Ellinger Fire Station. There were five directors present: Zwar, Moore, Dunk, and Hunger.

A special agent with the Texas Department of Public Safety arrested Fayetteville business owner Kimberly Naumann on June 16 for a felony charge of trademark counterfeiting. The arrest took place at the Dallas Market Center, a wholesale trade center in Dallas that caters to buyers and sellers in fashion and other industries.

About 40 people showed up to a public hearing of the Fayette County Ground Conservation District (FCGCD) Monday morning, July 12. The hearing was over a proposed update to a regional groundwater plan in Groundwater Management Area 12 (GMA-12), which covers Bastrop, Lee, Burleson and five additional counties to the northeast, along with portions of six other counties, including the northwestern third of Fayette County.
