A pair of wrecks on US 77 slowed traffic through Fayette County on a busy Monday as lots of folks were traveling to see the eclipse.

The wreck happened shortly before 11 a.m. near the intersection of US 77 and Bear Creek Rd. According to a report from Corporal Patrick Mladenka with the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2014 Toyota Tacoma was heading north on US 77 traveling behind a vacuum truck. The vacuum truck slowed to turn left into private property. The Tacoma crashed into the rear of the vacuum truck.

Fayette County EMS responded, along with the La Grange Volunteer Fire Department. No one was injured. The Tacoma suffered major damage to its front end and had to be towed from the scene. The vacuum truck suffered minimal damage. Another wreck involving a pickup pulling a jon boat happened around 12:58 p.m. on US 77 south of Swiss Alp. Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department responded. DPS investigated that wreck as well, but a report was not available in time for this publication.
