Schulenburg Police Handle Accidents, Traffic Stops and Other Incidents
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Aug. 16-22.
Accident
On Aug. 18, Officer Juan Castilleja responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a minor accident.
On Aug. 18, Officer James Whited responded to the 14 block of N. Kessler for an accident.
On Aug. 22, Castilleja responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a two-vehicle minor accident in the parking lot.
Animal Complaint
Aug 18, Castilleja was dispatched to the 100 block of Kessler regarding a dog walking in the roadway, the dog was gone upon officers’ arrival.
On Aug. 18, Animal Control Officer Gina Harden received a call from the 200 block of Kessler for a black male Pitbull with a blue collar that ran up to complainant. Dog was picked up and taken to the pound.
Civil Matter
On Aug. 18, Castilleja was dispatched to the 200 block of W. I-10 frontage road for an issue at the booking desk of the hotel. A voucher was provided to the individual.
On Aug. 19, Officer Reyden Svatek responded to the 100 block of Simpson where complainant advised the apartment manager is entering her apartment without her permission or notice.
On Aug. 19, Svatek was dispatched to the 700 block of Kessler where caller advised a large rock stuck his windshield causing damage.
Citizen Assist
On Aug. 16, Officer Byron Powe responded to the 500 block of West Avenue for a visitor that advised they had damage to their windshield and advised they thought they struck a bird.
On Aug. 18, Whited responded to the 200 block of August regarding a prior burglary. Complainant advised of a male subject sitting on his couch. Individual advised of medication change and they were having hallucinations, EMS arrived. Individual refused treatment.
Disturbance
On Aug. 21, Castilleja was dispatched to the 1000 block of Simpson for a disturbance. Several criminal trespass warnings were issued to multiple people.
Suspicious Vehicle
On Aug. 20, Svatek observed a vehicle parked in front of the 100 block of East Avenue. After speaking with the driver, he advised he was at work early waiting for someone to show up to open the gate. Individual advised he started working about a month ago.
On Aug. 22, Castilleja located a suspicious vehicle in the 400 block of E. Summit at Prime Products. The driver was identified and advised they were sleeping. Individual was advised to get a hotel.
Theft
On Aug. 18, Whited was dispatched to the 300 block of I-10 frontage to Chuck Brown Ford regarding a customer who had a gun taken from his vehicle while there. An employee was ruled out voluntarily. Traffic Hazard
On Aug. 21, Officer MD Krenek was asked to monitor traffic at the elementary drop off due to out of town busses blocking the view of exiting vehicles from the drop off location. Traffic Hazard
On Aug. 21, Castilleja was dispatched to the 600 block of Bohlmann for a log in the roadway.
Terroristic Threat
On Aug. 20, Krenek was dispatched to the 300 block of Bucek for a student telling another student they would shoot them. Both students are under the age of 10. The matter will be handled internally at the school. The student at fault was sent home for the day.
Traffic Stop
On Aug. 17, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 10 block of Kessler for traveling without headlights when required. Driver received a verbal warning.
On Aug. 18, Castilleja stopped a driver on the 400 block of Wolf for failure to have headlights on. Driver received a warning.
On Aug. 19, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for expired registration (9-25) Driver receive a warning.
On Aug. 19, Powe stopped a driver for speeding going 83 in a 75 in the 600-block o f E. I-10.
On Aug. 20, Svatek stopped a driver for speeding in a school zone in the 400 block of College a citation was issued.
On Aug. 22, Powe stopped a driver for speeding going 92 in a 75 in the 600 block of E. I-10. Driver received a warning.
On Aug. 22, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 87 in a 75.
On Aug. 22, Powe stopped a driver for speeding gong 89 in a 75. Driver received a warning.
On Aug. 22, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of I 10 for speeding going 85 in a 75. Driver received a warning.
Welfare Check
On Aug. 17, Castilleja was dispatched to the 200 block of August in reference to caller seeing people in his back yard and had recently been in the hospital for alcohol poisoning. After checking the backyard officer did not observe anyone. Individual informed Sgt. Roggenkamp he saw a gorilla trying to make out with the tire on his wheelbarrow and little people by the table. By little people he meant dwarves. Medics checked on him and he advised he was on new medication but did not want to go to the hospital.
On Aug. 18, Whited responded to the Pilot in the 700 block of Kessler for a suspicious person acting strange. The individual advised he was moving and was dehydrated. Subject left the parking lot heading toward motel.
On Aug. 20, Powe responded to the 600 block of S. Main for a welfare check.
On Aug. 22, Whited was dispatched to the 700 block of N. US Hwy. 77 to Oakridge. A male subject was sleeping in his car with the door open and money lying everywhere. The male subject refused to identify himself, he then went inside of Oakridge and then exited with a bag. Subject left the parking lot.
