Woman Badly Burned By Fire in La Grange
A La Grange woman suffered burns on 50 percent of her body last week as the result of an illegal fire within the city limits. La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath said officers received a call reporting an illegal fire in the 700 block of N. Washington St. shortly after 5 p.m. Jan. 29. The La Grange Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene. First responders found a 56-year-old woman, Stacy Mills, badly burned from the fire. Gilbreath said the woman was burning the insulation off of copper wires inside of a barrel. He said the woman poured gasoline into the barrel, which caused an explosion. Fayette County EMS arrived and transported the woman to Dell Seton Hospital in Austin for treatment. The fire department extinguished the fire.
