Wendish Society Scholarship Fundraiser Meal Set for Jan. 25

The Wendish Society will have their annual scholarship fundraiser drive-thru meal on Sunday, Jan. 25. The menu is grilled pork steaks, noodles, corn, green beans, pickles, and a bowl of Wendish Bird Wedding Soup. The cost is $15 per plate, pre-sale only by Jan. 21. Reserve tickets at museum@texaswendish.org or by calling the museum at (979) 3662441. Drive thru/to go only from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. Proceeds benefit the TWHS scholarship program. In 2025 there were 25 Texas Wendish Heritage Scholarship recipients totaling $23,000 awarded. They greatly appreciate your support for the Wendish students.

Spring Break Day Camp Camp Lone Star in La-Grange Spring Break Day Camp will be March 9-13, designed for campers age 5-13 years old. Lifequest will be March 20-22, for grades 6-8. Summer Camp registration, for campers age 5-18 is open. Register at www.camplonestar. org.

VFD Membership Meeting The Annual Membership Meeting and election of officers, of the South Lee County Volunteer Fire Department, will be held on Sunday, Jan. 18 at the fire station in Northrup. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6 p.m. All area residents are encouraged to attend. Refreshments and a meal will be provided.

Chili Supper and Auction St. Paul Lutheran in Serbin will be the site of a fun Chili Supper and Auction on Sunday, March 1. The fun begins at 4 p.m. and will include a chili cook-off. More details to come.

Sewing Circle 

The Sewing Circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m.-noon in the old parish hall at Holy Cross in Warda. (this is around the back side of the church.) No experience is necessary and you do not have to be a church member to join this fun group. Contact the church office at (979) 242-3333 if you have any questions.

Game Day at Holy Cross 

The next Game Day at Holy Cross in Warda will be held Thursday, Feb. 19 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo and dominoes are offered.

Food Truck at Waldeck 

The Central Texas Food Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church on Saturday, Jan. 17 from 10-11 a.m. Drive-thru only.

Holy Cross Services 

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

GEMS (Girls Embracing Mission Service) will meet on January 25 at Holy Cross Fellowship Hall at 2 p.m. for games, activities, and planning for the new year. Girls in grades 5-12 are invited to attend.

The Falcons Basketball team will play Valor S. Austin in Warda on Jan. 16 at 6 p.m. and will play at Fayetteville on Jan. 20 at 4 p.m.
