Carmine 42 Club Meets for Monthly Games

The Carmine 42 Domino Club met on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at JW Steakhouse in Carmine for their monthly match. After eating a delicious lunch, eight competitive games of 42 were played among partners determined by drawing for positions at the tables.
The high scoring partners were Myrt Minkowski and Marlene Waak with a score of 1848 and playing one hand of 84. LaVerne Albers and Carol Naegeli were in second place with a score of 1774 while playing four hands of 84 and one hand of 126. Linda Mattocks and Donna Mueller plated 1 hand of 84. Jeanette Schoenst and Edith Flinn played four hands of 84.
Everyone enjoyed the intriguing domino games and fellowship. This 42 group will be ready to play again on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. at JW Steakhouse.
RT-C School News
The 2026 -2027 academic calendar was approved at the last school board meeting. Check the RT-C website for the academic calendar www. rtcisd.net. Please review the calendar for important dates including the first day of school, holiday breaks, testing dates and graduation. Aug. 28 is a school holiday.

Carmine Lions Club
Carmine Lions Club had their regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at Windmill Ranch Lodge at 6 p.m. After the meal, the speaker Scott Willey, Fayette County agricultural agent, spoke about the New World screwworm, mealy bugs and took questions from the audience.
Lutheran World Relief Kits Lutheran World Relief school kits are being collected by the Women of the ELCA of Martin Luther Lutheran Church. Items for a kit include: four 70-count spiral notebooks; a blunt pair of scissors; a 30-centimeter ruler which includes 12-inches; a pencil sharpener; five unsharpened #2 pencils; five ballpoint pens; a two and onehalf- inch eraser; and a box of 16-24 crayons.
MLLC News
Senior Citizens meet on Wednesday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Mission & Ministry Building.
AA group meets on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
Sunday School begins Sunday at 9 a.m.
Worship with Holy Communion, observing the Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost is at 10 a.m. The Rev. Ken Weiss will serve as the guest pastor.
Recycle Trailers
The recycling collection trailers are at the Carmine Hall in the morning from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Thursdays.
Accepted are clean No. 1 and 2 plastic bottles and jugs. Please keep clean milk cartons separate from the other No. 2 plastics. Also, numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 plastics and plastic bags are not accepted.
Dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans may also be brought. Attendants are available to help unload.
