Weishuhn Appointed Commissioner for the City of Ellinger

Cullen Weishuhn was sworn in on Aug. 3 as the new Commissioner for the City of Ellinger. Mr. Weishuhn was appointed by Mayor Matt Mikulenka after former Commissioner Joe Lamer resigned to move closer to his family. Mr. Weishuhn is an Ellinger native, graduate of La Grange High School and is a registered professional land surveyor.

Chamber of Commerce Bingo will be held on Aug. 19 at the Chamber Hall. Please bring a non-perishable food item to donate to AMEN Food Pantry. Woodmen Life is sponsoring this event. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and games start at 6 p.m. The Chamber Hall is located at 104 West Colorado Sky in Ellinger. Hamburgers, hotdogs, nachos, desserts and refreshments will be available.

Central Texas Food Bank Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction of FM 1291 and FM 2145 on Saturday, Aug. 19 from 10-11 a.m. Food distribution will be a walk up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the clients walk through and make their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags, boxes, or plastic tubs. Wagons will be furnished by CTFB.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church The 73rd Annual Bazaar will be on Sunday, Aug. 27 at the Ellinger Chamber Hall at 104 W. Colorado Street. The online auction will open on Aug. 18 and run through Aug. 26 at 1 p.m. Visit http://www. stmaryellinger.com. Highest bidders can pick up items in the hall on this day.

There will also be a raffle drawing. A $5,000 gift card is the first prize, $2,500 gift card is the second prize, $1,000 gift card is the third prize, 14 $500 gift cards and 22 additional items will be included in the drawing. Tickets can be purchased from St. John’s/St. Mary’s parish office, St. Mary’s parishioners, Fayetteville Bank, or Round Top State Bank.

Activities at the hall will include a silent auction, (from 9-1 p.m.) Zach Novak and a live mini-auction (10 items) starting at 1:30 p.m. There will be a drive through and dinein fried chicken and sausage meal for $15. Serving starts at 10:30 a.m. Sides will include buttered potatoes, sauerkraut, and green beans. Dessert will be available in the hall.

Shared Lutheran Ministry A joint worship will be held in Warrenton on Sunday, Sept. 10. This will also be St. John Warrenton’s 150th anniversary celebration. Rev. Dr. Tracey Breashears Schultz will deliver the sermon and there will be a light brunch following worship.

Worship services are still offered on Facebook, You-Tube and KTIM 89.1 on Sundays at noon. Ellinger has worship every Sunday at 8 a.m. with communion.

Brethren Church

Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Facebook page.

Hermann Sons

Ellinger Hermann Sons will meet on Monday, Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.
