Weimar Library to Host Horse Racing Author

The Friends of the Weimar Public Library brings you “The Book of Norman: A Life in the Shadow of Greatness” by April McCurry. McCurry will be at the Weimar Public Library on Feb. 13 at 10 a.m.

“The Book of Norman: A Life in the Shadow of Greatness” is McCurry’s experiences with horseracing and the raising of thoroughbreds. Told from the perspective of the not so elite, McCurry’s story is a poignant look at the other side of racing and raising thoroughbreds.

“I am devouring every word, every exciting moment! Every moment when your heart stands still…” Arlene A.

McCurry lives on a farm outside Sealy and will discuss her book and the hidden realities she discovered about the world of horseracing. McCurry will follow-up her morning presentation with a book review at Nesbitt Library in Columbus at 2 p.m.

“I have so enjoyed it and am a little in love with Norm. I said, ‘Aw, Norm,’ so many times…” Victoria K.

McCurry has raised and raced many thoroughbreds, including her first and finest, Norman. Her love for horses and the racing world inspired her book, “The Book of Norman: A Life in the Shadow of Greatness.” You can learn more about Norman on his Facebook page, “Normandy Shore”.

McCurry remembers January 4, 2008. She saw Norm, his ears pricked forward, his big gray head hanging over the gate…In a blink, it all changed.
