Wayward Driver Goes Through Five Fences Before Gas Tank Punctured
Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of June 2023.
Deputy Cody Williams was dispatched to a vehicle that drove through a fence at a residence. Williams made contact with the driver of the vehicle who appeared to be in mental crisis and had driven through a total of five fences before the gas tank of her vehicle was punctured, stopping the vehicle. The subject was transported to a nearby hospital where she was later transferred to a mental health facility to receive proper treatment. Williams was also dispatched to a vehicle fire on Interstate 10 eastbound near mile marker 668. There were no report injuries and a report was completed for insurance documentation.
Sgt. Ron Naumann was dispatched to a local business in Round Top in reference to a handgun being found. The owner of the handgun returned at a later time to retrieve his lost property and was referred to the Sheriff’s Office. The owner provided proof of ownership and the weapon was returned. Naumann also took a report of a possible theft that occurred outside of La Grange. A report was taken the case remains under investigation at this time.
Sgt. Angela Lala took a fraud report where an unknown person attempted to file an unemployment claim on an individuals who lives in Fayette County. The victim received an identity theft packet and was explained the proper procedure, should any fraudulent activity show up on a credit report.
Sgt. Ryan Meagher was dispatched a to suspicious person running down the road on FM 2145 near Bear Creek Rd. Meagher located the subject who admitted to being intoxicated on methamphetamine and psilocybin mushrooms. The subject was arrested. Meagher was also dispatched to a vehicle parked in the roadway on FM 2503. The subject inside was asleep and was found to intoxicated. The subject was arrested.
Deputy Terry Guentert took a report of a disturbance that occurred in the Hostyn area. Charges were filed on one party involved for Assault Causes Bodily Injury. Guentert also took a report of a burglary which occurred in the Schulenburg area at a storage unit facility. The case is open and remains under investigation at this time.
Deputy Austin Moore stopped a vehicle in the La Grange area. After further investigation, Moore located several different kinds of narcotics inside of the vehicle. All three occupants inside the vehicle were arrested on felony narcotics charges. Moore stopped a vehicle near Flatonia, Texas. The driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of heroin, methamphetamine, ecstasy and marijuana. The driver was arrested on numerous felony charges.
Deputy Joe Gonzales responded to a disturbance that occurred in the Plum area. The aggressor had fled the scene prior to Gonzales’ arrival. Gonzales later located the subject who appeared to be having a mental health crisis. The subject was evaluated by mental health professionals and was later transported to a mental health facility for proper treatment. Gonzales also responded to a disturbance near Schulenburg, Texas involving a 14 year old that threatened her mother with a knife. The juvenile was charged with Terroristic Threat of Family/ Household and was transported to a juvenile correctional facility.
Deputy Holly Smith took a report of criminal mischief which occurred near Round Top, Texas. Smith gathered all pertinent information and a report was completed. Smith took a report of an assault that occurred in the Fayetteville area. A report was completed and the case remains open pending further investigation. Smith stopped a vehicle in the La Grange area. The driver of the vehicle had an active felony warrant out of Galveston County for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 >=4g<200g. The driver was arrested without incident.
Deputy Jared Michalec was dispatched to a male subject walking down the road that had gone to residence in which he was not wanted there. Michalec located the male who refused Michalec’s commands and continued walking away from him. Once another unit arrived to assist Michalec, the subject was arrested for numerous charges including Possession of a Controlled Substance and Resisting Arrest/Search/ Transport.
Deputy Wesly Arrison along with Deputies Duane Meagher and Jared Michalec were dispatched to an address outside of La Grange in reference to shots that were fired. After further investigation, an individual was placed into custody for Deadly Conduct. Arrison was also dispatched to a welfare concern for an elderly male walking along Interstate 10. After further investigation, it was discovered the male was the subject involved in an active Silver Alert. The male was found safe and was transported to a local hospital for precautionary reasons.
Deputy Mark Pritchard took a report of a theft that occurred in which the suspects attempted to drive a skid street through a fence. The case remains under investigation at this time. Pritchard also took another theft report in which packages were taken from the front porch of a residence.
Jail Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 64 individuals for the month of June. Sawyer reports that the Jail Staff transported two individuals to Texas Department of Criminal Justice Facilities throughout the State to being serving their sentences for crimes committed in Fayette County.
