Warda Farm Bureau Family Night June 23

The Warda Farm Bureau will have its Annual Family Night and Scholarship Fundraiser on Friday, June 23 at Holy Cross Picnic Grounds. Social hours starts at 6 p.m. with a barbecue beef and pork meal from 7 to 8 p.m. Meal tickets for members are $10, guests are $15. Scholarships will be presented prior to the meal. Members are asked to bring a dessert to share. Drinks will be provided.

TWHS Scholarship

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society Scholarship Program is now taking scholarship applications. The Texas Wendish Heritage Society (TWHS) appreciates support given to the scholarship program. All TWHS funds are received through fundraising projects and donations. This scholarship program is available to students of Wendish descent and encourages students to learn more about their Wendish heritage. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school for fall 2023 semester. Scholarship applications for 2023-2024 are available online at www.texaswendish. org and on the Texas Wendish Facebook Page. The entire process is online and must be submitted digitally by the deadline of 5 p.m. on Saturday July 14, 2023. St. Paul Lutheran Serbin The St. Paul Lutheran Church Adult Fellowship in Serbin is having a BBQ Pork Steak dinner on Sunday June 18 at 10 a.m.-noon at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. Advance tickets only for $12 per plate. Meal is to-go and tickets are available by calling (979) 5400854 by June 12. All proceeds will go toward future church/ school projects.

Recycle Trailer

The recycle trailer is at the Warda storage facility. The local Trail Life Group collects aluminum cans at the Holy Cross picnic grounds. There is a wire bin at the picnic grounds for you to put your cans in. The boys greatly appreciate your support and the money they collect goes towards projects they participate in.

8th Grade Graduation

Ruby Kalbas, daughter of Jordan and Lacey Kalbas and granddaughter of Harry and Patricia Lehmann and Larry and Judy Kalbas, graduated from Redeemer Lutheran School on May 23. She received the honor of being named Valedictorian of her 8th grade class. She will attend Concordia High School in Pflugerville in the fall. She plans on pursuing a career in music education.

Condolences

Sympathy to the family and friends of Nancy I. Pietsch who was called to her heavenly home on June 5. Her funeral was held in Warda on June 11.

Holy Cross Services

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Starting June 14 Pastor Beck will be leading a new midweek Bible Study on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross in the Church Library. In this study you will learn how to read your Bible…. how to really read it. What do we believe about the Bible? How can we understand it? All are welcome to be a part of this conversation.

Holy Cross Sewing Circle

The Sewing Circle in Warda meets every Thursday from 9-noon in the old Parish Hall of Holy Cross Church (entrance is behind the church.) You do not have to be a church member to join this fun group of ladies and no experience is necessary. They cut, sew, tie quilts and trim stamps, and enjoy some good food and fellowship.

Holy Cross Stamp Program

The Ladies Stamp Program is coming to an end and they ask that anyone having stamps to turn in would do so by Oct. 1, so they can get them sent in to the Texas District Stamp Program. They can be brought to the church office, dropped off in the designated box in the hallway, or mail to Lisa Gay PO Box 141 Warda, TX. 78960.

Faith Lutheran High School

Summer office hours for June and July are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

The spring rains resulted in the Faith Lutheran High School golf tournament being postponed. The new date is June 17. Contact the school to participate in this event.

Faith Lutheran High School Summer Youth Camps are back. FLHS is excited to offer a variety of camps for youth this summer. Ages are for grades next school year.

June 12-14: Basketball-Grade K-8. $20 (limited spots remaining.)

June 19-21: STEM Camp-Grade K-6. $40 (wait list only.)

June 26-28: Art Camp-Grade K-6. $40 (wait list only.)

July 31-August 1: Archery- Grade 4-8. $20 (limited spots remaining.)
