Verlene Kuntschihk Benefit Sunday
A benefit for Verlene Kuntschik will take place at Mullins Prairie Store on July 17.
Kuntschik was the parishioner at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn who died from the injuries she suffered in the church fire last month.
The fundraiser starts at 11 a.m. and includes a pork steak meal for $12, There will be a drawing at 5 p.m. with tickets for $20 each. There will also be a silent auction. Proceeds will assist the Hrachovy-Kuntschik families.
Kuntschik was a member of many organizations. Two of her favorites were the Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum and the PO.L.K. of A. Club. She enjoyed singing Czech songs and dancing the polka and waltz.
Accordingly, the event will include live music by The Shiner Hobo Band at noon and the Red Ravens at 3 p.m. Organizers ask musicians to bring their instruments for a jam session that will take place that afternoon as well.
