Vehicle A Total Loss After Fire

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Tuesday May 2 around 1:13 p.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a vehicle fire on State Hwy. 71 eastbound near West Point Loop. The La Grange Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene along with Deputy Lee Phillips. Upon arrival the vehicle was fully engulfed and the occupants were safely out. State Highway 71 eastbound lanes were shut down while the La Grange Fire Department extinguished the fire. Deputies Rick Bohlmann, Joe Gonzales, and Wesley Arrison assisted with traffic control. The 2011 Nissan Altima was a total loss and the occupants advised they recently purchased it, and the cause of the fire was undetermined.
