Vehicle Fire on 77

A vehicle caught fire on US 77 south of La Grange Friday morning, Nov. 24.

The incident happened around 10 a.m. Jacob Wilson, 22 of Schulenburg, was driving north in a blue 2016 Kia Rio when he said he heard a “pop” in the engine compartment. Wilson pulled over near Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative to check his vehicle. Wilson said he opened the hood and flames came out.

La Grange Volunteer Fire Department responded with two fire trucks and seven personnel. They extinguished the fire, but the car was a complete loss. Wilson said the fire destroyed more than $1,000 worth of personal property, including an Epiphone Les Paul guitar and a skateboard.
