Uvalde Woman Dies in Crash Here

An 87-year-old woman from Uvalde died in a crash on SH 71 in La Grange early Saturday morning, Oct. 29.

The crash happened at approximately 12:13 a.m. at the SH 71 frontage road and Old Plum Highway. A report from the Texas Department of Public Safety said a 2015 Nissan Rogue was traveling eastbound on the SH 71 frontage road and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The Nissan traveled into the ditch before vaulting into the air and coming to rest on the railroad tracks.

The passenger, an 87-yearold woman from Uvalde, died at the scene. The male driver suffered injuries. Fayette County EMS transported him to St. David’s Hospital in South Austin for treatment.
