TxDot Says Hwy 77 Downtown Work Will Be Done for Fair

Bluff Closure (Phase 2) to Begin Sept. 14

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) provided an update this week on its US 77 reconstruction project in La Grange.

TxDOT said it will be finalizing the first phase of the project, and US 77 will be opened to traffic prior to Labor Day weekend. There will still be various work items (sidewalks, driveways, striping, etc.) to complete with minimal impact to traffic. TxDOT asks motorists to please remain patient and use caution while driving through the work zone. Phase Two of this project will start on Sept. 14, weather permitting. This phase will involve closing the Bluff for eight days to remove and replace the existing roadway surface from FM 155 to the Colorado River Bridge. Local landowners who live on the Bluff will maintain property access throughout the closure. Please follow the signed detour routes.

Phase Three will start at the conclusion of the Phase Two Bluff closure. This last phase will involve nightly lane closures to rehab the existing roadway from the Colorado River Bridge to BS 71 (Travis Street). Nightly lane closures are currently scheduled to occur from 7 p.m. - 6 a.m. and this phase will take approximately one month to complete.
