Two Injured in Wreck at Hostyn

A crash at the intersection of FM 2436 and US 77 south of La Grange seriously injured the two drivers on Thursday, Sept. 14.

Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the accident but the report was not complete as of last Friday.

According to preliminary details, 87-yearold Johnnie Polasek of La Grange was driving a blue 2007 Chevy Silverado on FM 2436 (also known as the Hostyn Cutoff) and failed to yield the right-of-way when he pulled onto US 77.

A white 2017 Ram 2500 pickup driven by Yura Lee Conn, 57 of Valley Mills, struck Polasek’s pickup.

Both drivers suffered serious injuries and were taken by Fayette County EMS to St. David’s Hospital in South Austin.
