Trying to Fill the Medical Void

As the La Grange hospital’s opening gets more and more delayed (October will mark three years since it closed and one year since Progressive Health announced plans to reopen, which have yet to materialze), another company is looking to fill that void.

Dr. Eric Alford, a Fayetteville native and family practice doctor for Baylor Scott and White Clinic in Brenham addressed the commissioners court during the public comment portion of the meeting Thursday. Alford touted the services offered in Brenham, with more being added, and said he attended the meeting to “see how we can partner with the county to offer services not currently offered here,” and to also “open communication with Fayette County EMS” for the possible treatment of local patients in Brenham.

County Judge Dan Mueller thanked Dr. Alford for attending and encouraged him to talk with Fayette County EMS Director Josh Vandever.
