Truck, Trailer Engulfed In Flames a Total Loss
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Tuesday evening April 11, around 6:53 p.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a westbound truck pulling a camper on fire on Interstate 10 near the 658 mile marker.
The Flatonia Fire Department was notified and responded along with Flatonia Police Officer Ty Roggenkamp and Deputy Duane Meagher. Upon arrival it was reported the Ford F-250 truck and camper were fully engulfed and the driver was out of the vehicle. The driver attempted to unhook the trailer but could not.
After arrival the Flatonia Fire Department extinguished the fire and Texas Department of Transportation was requested to respond to the scene. The fire is believed to have started from a wheel on the trailer, which the driver explained he had just bought the trailer at an auction in Houston and was taking it back to San Antonio. There were no reported injuries and the truck and trailer were a total loss.
