Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Wednesday night, April 1 at around 10:54 p.m. Deputy Josh Jones conducted a traffic stop on St. Hwy 71 eastbound near Hatterman Rd. on a silver Honda Accord for a traffic violation.

As Deputy Jones approached the vehicle he observed the driver spraying something in the back seat. When confronted about the body spray the driver denied covering illegal odors up. When consent to search the vehicle was not given, a request for a canine was conducted.

Schulenburg PD Officer Byron Powe arrived with his canine “Semper” and conducted a free air search of the vehicle and a positive alert on the vehicle was observed. A search of the vehicle recovered marijuana, vape pens containing THC oil, mushrooms, scales, packaging material and drug paraphernalia.

Also assisting at the scene was Deputy Jason Fowler. Ar-rested was 21-year-old Joshue Gerber Martinez of Houston who was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
