Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Subject in Middle of Highway
On Saturday, Feb. 25 at 1:45 a.m., Deputy Seth Nagel stopped a 2015 Toyota Camry on State Hwy.71 near Airport Rd. for a traffic violation. During the course of the investigation, Deputy Nagel asked the driver to step out of the vehicle so that he could conduct a probable cause search. Sgt. Ryan Meagher arrived to assist Nagel.
The driver attempted to shut the door to the vehicle and drive away at which point Deputies pulled him from the vehicle and a brief struggle ensued as the vehicle began to roll across the lanes of traffic and into the center median. Thankfully two vehicles stopped a safe distance away and blocked traffic as the Deputies were attempting to arrest the subject in the middle of the highway. Nagel and Meagher were able to secure the driver into handcuffs. It was later discovered the vehicle was stolen out of Travis County and the driver was displaying a fictitious license plate.
Inside the vehicle, Deputies located several types of narcotics including cocaine, crack cocaine, prescription pills and marijuana.
The driver identified as Anthony Skipper, 29 of Katy was arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with the following. Possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest, detention with a vehicle, resisting arrest, search and transport, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
